After Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma carried out heavy promotions for Jab Harry Met Sejal, testing their marketing abilities with new and rather unexplored strategies of the film's promotion, they were successful in generating a decent buzz before the release of the film.

The movie made Rs. 15.25 crores on Friday, Rs. 15 crores on Saturday and maintaining the consistency, it raked in Rs. 15.50 crores on Sunday. Talking about the Monday business, then the numbers are very low as it was a part holiday for Raksha Bandhan so the movie could have done better. The film, inspite of having a long weekend, has managed to collect just Rs 52.9 crore so far. Jab Harry Met Sejal collected Rs 45.75 crore nett at the domestic box office in its opening weekend. "I am sure that a lot of people do not think that Jab Harry Met Sejal is an intellectual masterpiece, but I did not intend it to be one", Imtiaz Ali was quoted as saying about the movie's performance. "#JabHarryMetSejal Fri 15.25 cr, Sat 15 cr, Sun 15.50 cr, Monday 7.15 cr [Raksha Bandhan]".
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the total collection of the film so far.
A source from film, who doesn't want to be named says, "Shah Rukh's films attain blockbuster status only when he collaborates with his favourite directors - Yash Chopra, Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Farah Khan, Farhan Akhtar or even Rohit Shetty - while playing a romantic lover-boy".
"Earlier, he had tweeted, "#JabHarryMetSejal has emerged a DISAPPOINTMENT.
However, the movie has already earned Rs 25 crore from satellite and distribution rights.
Compare the revenue to what Shah Rukh Khan's last film, Raees, also earned at the BO in four days and you will get a clearer picture.
The story revolves around Harry (SRK) and Sejal (Anushka Sharma)'s journey across Europe.
