Multiple sources have indicated Cutler is signing a one-year deal with Miami worth $10 million, plus incentives. Whatever the decision may be, Elliott has been hampered this offseason with all of the negative press and it will be interesting to see what Roger Goodell decides to do with this case, as the National Football League has been under scrutiny before due to previous domestic abuse problems.
The Dolphins lost Ryan Tannehill indefinitely to a left knee injury in Thursday's practice at training camp. This is bad news because Tannehill could have undergone surgery in the offseason but chose not to.
According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, Cutler has given the Dolphins' situation a lot of thought, and may still be swayed by coach Adam Gase. Cutler's 11 interceptions in 2015 were the lowest in a season starting at least 15 games. His departure from the Bears had more to do with Cutler fatigue at Halas Hall than any Cutler decline on the field. "I don't think it's even close to anything right now". And if they think he can help them win, I'm sure... Brandon Doughty and David Fales are the only other passers on Miami's roster.
Miami's talent gives Cutler an opportunity to produce if healthy and in football shape. Cutler is still considering his options, but it appears that he is leaning towards staying retired. While Cutler holds nearly all the Chicago Bears passing records, he has only made it to the playoffs once in his career and never made it to a bowl game in college.
The possibility of Colin Kaepernick as an option will create conversation, especially if the Dolphins choose Cutler over the former 49ers quarterback.
Gase went on to note that he knows Cutler is interested and that the team is likely going to be in the market for a quarterback no matter what happens.
Tannehill opted not to have a procedure done after the initial injury last December.
"Comments about him in the media, it's not like he's talking to anybody", Gase said.
