Arsenal v Chelsea - Michael Owen reveals prediction for Community Shield clash

Premier League champions Chelsea take on FA Cup winners Arsenal at Wembley Stadium today as the Community Shield signals the start of the English season.

Despite being sent off in last season's FA Cup final, Moses was eligible to play for Antonio Conte's side.

The fixture is a repeat of last season's FA Cup final, which the Gunners won 2-1 thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey.

Costa has been told he is not in Chelsea's plans and he will not be involved on Sunday, and Conte has been questioned again about the Spaniard - who has threatened legal action.

The two capital clubs have played each other since then - a pre-season friendly which Chelsea won 3-0 in China - but the Community Shield will be a real test of both sides with the 2017-18 season fast approaching.

On the squad lists for the two sides this afternoon, Arsenal's ranks almost doubled that of Chelsea's. Chelsea look to defend their title this season, while Arsenal aim to reach the summit of the Premier League for the first time in over a decade. Chelsea have also signed Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayako, but whether they will feature, is a major doubt.

Arsene Wenger's Arsenal this afternoon put fierce London rivals Chelsea to the sword in the Community Shield, with the Emirates outfit emerging with a penalty shootout victory following a 1-1 full-time scoreline.

"The strength of professional people is to not be diverted by noises that are not their problem", Wenger said Thursday.

"It is a difficult dream to make the fans happy but we try very hard and I would like that they stand behind the team".

Arsenal began brightly and should have opened the scoring, new Gunners signing Alexandre Lacazette smacking the woodwork after being given too much time in the box, the Frenchman curling his effort past Courtois but on to the post. Regardless of whether new signings arrive before the start of the season, before the end of the transfer window, or ever at all, the players who are with the team have to step up their game to the new season's challenge.

Both teams to score 8/13: I think we'll see a closely fought game this weekend and with two attacks filled with talent, I fully expect both teams to get on the score-sheet.

Spain worldwide Morata will be tasked with leading the line at Stamford Bridge this season after Conte froze Diego Costa out of the first-team picture and the Italian urged patience with the former Juventus star. "This is an important game for us".
