Federer Rolls to 12th Career Wimbledon Semifinal

The 35-year-old Federer can identify with the physical woes of Djokovic and Murray, having gone through the same thing last year.

In the other semi-final the tournament's dark horse takes on its surprise package as Croatian Marin Cilic goes up against Murray's conqueror Sam Querrey.

It lasted five hours and 31 minutes, with Cilic eventually prevailing 17-15 in the fifth set. "We got on the court today and we could play under the roof", said Djokovic.

Djokovic, a three-time Wimbledon champion, had a trainer work on his right elbow after the first set ended. In the victory, Berdych won 93 percent of his first serve points and 53 percent of his second serve points.

An injury to Novak Djokovic means Murray will remain as world number one. "He just does everything really well, he did seem to play at a really high level".

Querrey needs his big serve, forehand opportunities and intense belief.

Raonic, the tournament's sixth seed from Thornhill, Ont., defeated Federer in the Wimbledon semifinals previous year before losing to Andy Murray in the final.

Federer leads the head-to-head 18-6 against Berdych and has won their last seven matches, including wins this year at the Australian Open and in Miami. He has made light work of the rest of the field so far and he is showing that the matches he competed in at Queens has helped him find his feet on the grass, after making the final in the grass court tuneup event.

Previously these two players met each other for about 24 times in various tournaments.

Roger Federer has won the second set 7-6 (4) against Tomas Berdych in the second men's semifinal match at Wimbledon.

Victory over Garbine Muguruza in Saturday's final would see Williams take the record that now belongs to her sister Serena, who won as a 34-year-old last year.

"Over here in Wimbledon, I believe this is his home court, the place where he feels the best and knows that he can play his best game", he said. In matches, I couldn't play freely. Then you throw in the head to head numbers against Berdych, and there's no reason to pick against Federer here.

When asked how he felt about reaching the final, he said: 'Unbelievable.
