Raonic, the tournament's sixth seed from Thornhill, Ont., defeated Federer in the Wimbledon semifinals previous year before losing to Andy Murray in the final.
Federer leads the head-to-head 18-6 against Berdych and has won their last seven matches, including wins this year at the Australian Open and in Miami. He has made light work of the rest of the field so far and he is showing that the matches he competed in at Queens has helped him find his feet on the grass, after making the final in the grass court tuneup event.
Previously these two players met each other for about 24 times in various tournaments.
