JR Smith not deterred by Warriors' Game 3 win: 'Cavs in 7'

The Cavaliers aren't slowing down.

The Warriors lead the Finals three games to none and are 15-0 in the postseason.

They may have no choice.

The Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night were able to squeeze out a critical win in Game 3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers to grab a commanding 3-0 lead in the NBA Finals.

Kevin Durant and his Golden State Warriors moved one game closer to winning the 2017 National Basketball Association title with Wednesday's victory in Cleveland.

One more victory, and the Warriors will have their second championship in three seasons. But while James pushed the Warriors, his team struggled without him.

Durant casually took the ball up the floor and dribbled straight into a three-point dagger over LeBron James - a shot Durant said post-game that he had been practising for his entire life. So that's our game. He came in carrying a broom and exchanged some words with one fan who wasn't happy about his brash gesture. Down the stretch, he made plays for us.

"A lot of people said we couldn't". That's who we are.

But Golden State with Durant is on another level than the teams Cleveland roughed up in the Eastern Conference, and the Cavs just couldn't hold them down long enough.

Durant, often matched up with James, finished the first quarter with eight points to James' 16.

File this away as useless sports trivia-JR Smith scored the first points of these Finals. After sweeping through the preliminary rounds of the playoffs, and with a Finals sweep very much on the table, the Warriors have a real chance to go 4-4-4-4.

Lue, though, is staying with Smith, who said his wife, Jewel, offered advice on how to end his slump.

"I'm not making a change", he said. "She told me every time I touch it, shoot it".

The Cavaliers kept the heat on Golden State early in the fourth, but the Warriors were never far from striking distance.

Blown off the court in the second halves of the first two games, the Cavaliers surged ahead with a big third quarter and were still ahead by six with less than 3 minutes to play.

Thankfully, Thompson, Durant and eventually Curry were there to make sure it didn't matter, with threes raining down like rain on Cleveland's parade as the Warriors combined for nine in the quarter.

Golden State finished the first quarter with a Finals record nine three-pointers and led by six at halftime. He was gassed, and the Cavs couldn't keep up as the Warriors scored 132 despite 20 turnovers.

Back home in Cleveland, LeBron and company are going to want to reassure fans early that they are going to be in this game.

"That's not our game. It wasn't our smartest game that we have played all year, but it was maybe our toughest in terms of our ability to just hang in there". "We play at our pace".

If there was any doubt about how this game would be played, that was answered by the way both teams started. We got to this point playing our way.

We'll have up-to-the-minute scoring and stats here throughout the game.

James led the Cavs with 39 points. "Such a big part of trying to keep Tristan Thompson off the boards". But these Warriors are a different team.

Kyrie Irving didn't need much time to answer the question.
