The fiery pop star stole the show on night one of the National Basketball Association finals, rooting on the Cleveland Cavaliers and throwing plenty of shade toward the Golden State Warriors - particularly small forward Kevin Durant. Durant had six dunks in the first half, five in transition. Durant may have been the leader but he had plenty of help too. The speedy Warriors fast break proved more than Cleveland could silence. It was a certified miracle the Cavs were within eight points, but that was fool's gold.
While Durant and Curry soared, James and the Cavs struggled on the road. "They got downhill, got to the spots where they wanted to go", forward Kevin Love said. You're not going to see us getting ahead of ourselves. "Going into Game 2 we'll be a lot more settled in, a lot better on the defensive end". Then, once they finally did get in front of Durant in a similar situation in the second half, he simply tossed the ball to an open Curry for an easy 3-pointer.
Warriors: Coach Steve Kerr had hoped to feel well enough to return to the bench but stayed behind the scenes in the locker room as he continues to deal with complications from back surgery almost two years ago.
The Cavaliers can find solace in the fact that despite what looked to be an off shooting night for their team - 34.9 percent from the field - they still were able to hang around with Golden State shooting from beyond the arc.
Was there something between Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant and Rihanna on the court last night?
The Cavaliers entered the game 12-1 in the postseason.
There was always a chance the Cavaliers wouldn't throw a ton of bodies at KD, choosing instead to allow him to get loose as the expense of the Warriors offensive flow.
He was a solid 10-for-18 in he first half, finishing up 14-for-26 for 38 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's a good defensive team and they're active and athletic and long and anticipate really well. "That's what you dream about as a kid is to play at the highest level. I was more focused on defense".
Some predictions see the NBA Finals ending quickly.
A video made the rounds on Twitter Friday that purportedly showed Cue saying, "Tell that b***h to sit down" as he motioned to Rihanna before she took her seat. And there's no way the Cavs will be so sloppy every game (20 total turnovers). Per the New York Post, Rihanna yelled "brick" at Durant, who reportedly stared at her after making a three-point shot.
Golden State knows never to get complacent.
