LeBron undaunted by challenge of facing Warriors in Finals

Missed championship? That's new. It highlights the different types of critics and doubts Curry has endured since he first started playing basketball.

Stephen Curry's miraculous rise: overshadowed by a bum knee.

Some would even argue that Curry's 2016-17 regular season didn't live up to the lofty standards he has set. Coming into this Finals, we're a lot more focused. Without him playing, who knows how many championships the Bulls would have.

Cleveland wrapped up the Eastern Conference finals this past Thursday and Golden State has been off since May 22.

-Celebrities. There is more than Drake (Curry) and Dr. Dre (James) to this series. He not only averaged just as many points, but he did so on nearly four or five fewer shots per game, while playing the most efficient basketball he has ever played and not touching the ball as much as he has over the last couple years. The award went to reserve Andre Iguodala.

The addition of Kevin Durant slowed down Curry. It widens to 46 percent at home, 36 percent on the road for 3-point shots.

-3-point defense. Forget Kyrie Irving vs. Curry.

"You guys saw me at the end of Game 2, I was very uncomfortable", Kerr told reporters then.

Green, Golden State's versatile heartbeat, is typically the hub of the post offense, averaging a little more than three post touches per game in the postseason. He's someone I've always looked at, seeing the way he played the game and mastered the game and gotten better and better every year. For the third season in a row, The Warriors will face off with the Cavaliers during this year's N.B.A. Finals. "You've got to take it as that". It's a duel for one successor, one failure. "I can't lie", Durant said when comparing the 2012 finals trip to this one. With four All-Stars in the starting five, the Warriors can afford to rest two at a time for extended periods while rotating their reserves in, keeping an All-Star caliber player or two on the court at all times.

The ending of February was tough.

Riley: The Cavs might not be as top-heavy as the Warriors, but their depth of quality role players should give them the edge. However, the Cavaliers will need to play better defense and do a better job on the glass if they are going to have any shot at beating the Warriors in the NBA Finals.

What sticks in the craw of some fans is how the teams were constructed, as if the Warriors or Cavaliers broke some rules in putting together their rosters. LeBron trails Jordan by less than 4,000 points. But as the Cavaliers move towards the Finals, opponents will attempt to pick at every weakness and isolate any advantage they can garner. Lue has more weapons at his disposal this time around, and the Warriors will have one fewer with Kerr relegated to watching on television from the locker room due to a back ailment. They like to see a competitive game.

The talk then shifted towards San Antonio. If it weren't for health and suspension a year ago they probably would have beaten the Cavs in two straight finals and since then they added KEVIN DURANT.

The folks in Las Vegas may be skeptical of the Cavs' chances to repeat last year's stunning title victory. They're the better team this year. Durant is shooting 56 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range, while adding 7.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Bet Cleveland Cavaliers vs.

The back-to-back MVP was considered by many the best basketball player alive previous year. King James is making his seventh consecutive NBA Finals appearance, and fourth with Cleveland (2007, 2015, 2016).

It's not a stretch at all to say the Warriors will be back in this position again next year, but when you're there, you have to seize the moment. I've been second in the MVP voting three times. The biggest stars shine brightest when the lights are on.

But the three-times National Basketball Association champion was also quick to point out that he has faced such a talent-laden squad on the NBA's biggest stage before - in 2013 against San Antonio while playing with Miami - and came out on the winning side.
