This will be Lebron James's seventh consecutive appearance in the NBA Finals. Love opened up the floor for James, burying outside jumpers and forcing Boston to leave defenders one-on-one with James.
The other issue is the Celtics poor defense in the paint. But if James isn't going to get the honor after one of his best statistical seasons, finishing with career-highs in rebounds (8.6) and assists (8.7) to go along with usual high scoring average and efficiency, then it's fair to wonder about his future chances. He shot at least 50% from the field for the ninth straight playoff game, going 14-for-24 (58.3%). Kevin Love is the third double-digit scorer and Tristan Thompson is grabbing 10.4 rebounds.
Minutes after the National Basketball Association announced the three finalists for the MVP award - and James wasn't among them - the Cavaliers star scored 30 points before resting in the fourth quarter.
The Game 2 of the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics will air on TNT, which means it will be available to live stream online on TNT Drama as well as the broadcasting network's flagship streaming app - WatchTNT.
Brown scored a playoff career-high 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting, but it wasn't almost enough against a Cavaliers team firing on all cylinders. They appeared exhausted and emotionally drained from their seven-game series with the Washington Wizards, and that might have played a part in Boston losing the battle on the boards, turnovers and loose balls. Crowder got hot from beyond the arc in the second half, going 4-of-5 from three-point land. The Cavaliers shrugged off two aggressive plays by Boston G Isaiah Thomas in the opener, the second a hard foul on a driving LeBron James that actually knocked the smaller Thomas' headband from his head. He admitted after the game that he needs to shoot better.
Boston also seemed content to make every switch created by Cleveland screens, leading to some awkward matchups for James in the first half. The Celtics missed their first six shots.
Going down 2-0 against Cleveland would effectively end the series on the spot and nearly ensure the Cavaliers take it in another sweep.
There was no sugar coating the Cavaliers' 130-86 Game 2 beatdown. Obviously, we don't know the exact adjustments but we know they're gonna make adjustments. However, there is one big problem and he wears #23 in the dark blue uniforms. Marcus Smart and Bradley lack the size to bother James when he decides to bully his way to the basket.or back them down on the block, shoot over the top.or, well, do anything. But the Celtics quit in this game. Thomas didn't return to action in the second half after suffering a hip injury before intermission. James has scored 30 points in seven straight games as he looks to visit the finals for the seventh straight season.
Antetokounmpo averaged career highs in almost all statistical categories including points (22.9), rebounds (8.8), assists (5.4), blocks (1.9) and steals (1.6) per game.
BRAD STEVENS: You can ask whatever you want.
Normally, this would be a let-down situation for the Cavaliers after a dominant road win in Game 1. With home-court advantage gone, the Celtics is facing a must-win Game 2 on Friday evening. They're now down 0-2 headed to Cleveland.
Here are three quick takeaways from Game 2.
