James, Love help Cavs rout Celtics 117-104 in Game 1

The discussion about if LeBron James is the greatest player in the history of the National Basketball Association is rising and rising and if he could take down a superteam like Golden State, it seems that many people would crown the King and say he has passed Michael Jordan as the greatest of all-time. We've got to be early in our spots and then get out to the shooters, and not be playing from behind.

The Cleveland are entering this Eastern Conference Finals series as the clear favorites - having remained unbeaten in the postseason, to this point - while the Boston seem thrilled to embrace their "underdog" label.

Cleveland's high scorer was All-Star forward LeBron James, with a game-high 38 points, followed by Kevin Love, who scored 32 points. Love made six of his nine three-point attempts in Game 1, and he's shooting 45.7 percent from behind the arc in the playoffs. Just goes to show that I don't know much about basketball sometimes.

Lue, a former Celtics assistant, said of Thompson, "He's our energy, he's our motor". But until the Cavs actually lose a game, it isn't wise to pick against them.

Boston: Bradley (21), Crowder (21 + 8 rebounds), Thomas (17 + 10 assists). You name a player and odds are they were switched onto an island against LeBron beyond the 3-point-line.

The biggest positive from this game was the play of rookie Jaylen Brown, whom coach Brad Stevens lauded over before the game. "I didn't think he could get any better". They earned that seeding by barely eclipsing the Cavaliers with the best regular season record in the Eastern Conference in 2017.

"It's easier said than done but we have to figure out our best avenue quickly", Stevens said of the challenge of defending James and Love when they're on the court together. But a Derrick Williams three with a minute and a half left pushed them away and Channing Frye's three on the next possession put it to bed. There was a lot of scrambling and while that made it hard for the Celtics to compete, the Cavaliers didn't even take full advantage of how often the Boston defense was off balance. The one game that the Celtics won was on March 1, when they defeated the Cavs by only four, 103-99. The pair were whistled for double fouls on one occasion and came together on other occasions. The victor of the series will move on to the NBA Finals to play either the Golden State Warriors or the San Antonio Spurs. He had the same job two years ago when the Cavaliers swept the Celtics out of the playoffs in the first round on their way to the NBA Finals. He had 15 points with 10:54 to play in the second quarter, surpassing his 13-point total for Game 3 in a blink before stalling. "Seriously?" he said. "We had like two weeks to get ready and now at the last second it turns out Kelly Olynyk has the ability to make shots and get rebounds and stuff?" "I just got to move out of the way and get back on D".

James and head coach Tyronn Lue will be hoping for some more production from Kyrie Irving, who finished with just 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting in 34 minutes.

Next game, if Jae Crowder still can't man him up, the Celtics' bigs should be on their toes every single time to provide weak side defense in the paint. "The first time in history - that's pretty cool.". "Kyle (Korver) had three or four very, very good looks that he missed when we had a good stretch".
