Boston Celtics win NBA draft lottery, Lakers second

Besides getting the first overall pick a night before they open the Eastern Conference finals at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Celtics also get another first-rounder in 2018 from the Nets.

Joel Embiid, the team's representative on the lottery set, is supposed to be back on the court soon, after undergoing surgery to fix the torn meniscus that limited him to 31 games this past season.

L.A. only has one team to worry about when it comes to grabbing available talent before them and if recent reports of Fultz going No.1 overall are true, the Lakers will have the choice of snagging Ball at No.2.

After the lottery ended, Pierce wrote on twitter: "And look what I leave behind for the Celts on my way out #1 pick".

"I don't know who we're gonna take right now", Magic said.

Owner Wyc Grousbeck was the lucky charm for a team that, despite its shamrock logo, hasn't had such good fortune in the lottery.

The top three picks came down to the Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers will pick third, while Phoenix fell two spots and is fourth. "But for us mentally, we just know what we need to do to be successful against this team, even with Kawhi back in there, probably on Saturday".

In that sense, the Lakers escaping Tuesday and beating the 53.1 percent likelihood they would fall out of the top three and convey their pick to Philadelphia was not as big of a boon as keeping their pick past year at No. 2.

Lawyers representing Moses Malone Jr. say he "was violently attacked by a group of armed men" while entering a club last June after making a Facebook post criticizing Harden for charging $249 at a basketball camp. Most expect that pick to be Lonzo Ball, who the Lakers are reportedly "enamored" with.

The ping pong balls finally went Boston's way.

"I think point guard is obviously a priority, and luckily in this draft there are a lot of point guards, so they should get a good player". The Nets finished with the league's worst record at 20-62 under first-year general manager Sean Marks, who replaced Billy King in February 2016. I think we've maybe felt it too much, Kawhi being gone, in the sense that I don't think - as I watched - I don't think they believed.

Washington point guard Markelle Fultz is expected to be the first overall pick, with UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball, Kansas small forward Josh Jackson and Duke forward Jayson Tatum expected to round out the top four. Meanwhile the Celtics, who recognized their own "Big Three" was over when Ray Allen signed with the Heat, got three first-round picks and the right to swap picks in 2017. If the Lakers are a 25-30 win team next year, how long before LaVar pops off to the media? He also thinks that partnering with Thomas "would be the craziest backcourt".

Sacramento will pick fifth and 10th.

If the Hawks are going to make a move via trade, let's hope they are evaluating opportunities to move up; given where they are with the current roster construction and their draft assets, they should be significantly valuing quality over quantity. Orlando is sixth, followed by Minnesota, New York and Dallas. Hornets; 12. Pistons; 13.
